Volcom’s Peanut Butter & Rail Jam comes to Colorado, getting gooey in Keystone on April 9. For riders, there’s free entry, 4 divisions (Under 15, 16+, Girls, Open runs with cash on the line), and an award for “Gooeyest Move of the Day” from Electric Optics. Registration is in the River Run Base Area at 9 a.m. sharp, and a lift ticket is required.

With Old Man Winter slowly (but surely) fading into memory, springtime creeps in. This is a wondrous time of year as the general public cautiously begins to dress for warmer weather. This is the time of the year when we see hoodies with flip flops and EMUs with down jackets.
Surfers rejoice, snowboarders begin wrapping up their season, and for those of us who pretty much wear hoodies and black jeans year-round, the warmer weather just gives us ample opportunities to skate. No more wrecked fingers on cold concrete; no more stiff, creaky bushings and no more black ice at the bottom of stairs. We still love road trips to Vegas, hanging out poolside and getting into some adventures, however.
Besides the beautiful feeling of waking up and not having to chisel the ice off of windshields, here are a few more things to help you look forward to summer: Read the rest of this entry →

Burton Snowboards wanted to make a jacket just for the Colorado Mongrels scouring the mountainside. Burton came to us and wanted to collaborate on a one-of-a-kind piece that would only be available to our customers for a limited time: Introducing the Burton x BC Colorado Mongrel Jacket – Only available at BC Surf & Sport.
Burton Colorado Mongrel Jacket – Colorado/Astroturf – $249.99
From Shop, Eat, Surf:
“Riders feel really connected to their local snowboard shop, so we created a classic varsity-style jacket with shop branding and colors, so riders could show their support,” says John Lacy, SVP of Global Snow Product and North American Sales at Burton.
We’re proud to put our logo and Colorado crest on a piece of outerwear like the BC x Burton Colorado Mongrel Jacket. Only 15 of these bad boys were made, and you can find them online at BCSurf.com, or in store at our Boulder, Flatirons or Park Meadows locations in Colorado. The jacket features 2L waterproofing, a longer team fit, Thermacore insulation, Burton’s patented Dryride shell material, fully tape seams, waterproofing of 10,000mms and all the pass pockets, media pouches and bells and whistles you could ever ask for.
Once again, only 15 of these pieces were made in a one-time only run, and a few were probably already sold while drafting this blog post. Check them out on BCSurf.com, and snag one before it’s too late.
The 2011 Campus Rail Jam Tour stopped in Boulder on Thursday, March 4, making it a worthwhile excuse for students to skip their Physics or Calculus classes for the day and take in some shredding. As the Campus Rail Jam website says, “Boulder is overrun with shred talent,” and some serious stunts (and slams) went down on the hill during the day. Check out the pictures below, and then head over to the Campus Rail Jam Tour website to see where the tour is headed next.

The Campus Rail Jam is always one of the best events of the season. This year, the tour hits Boulder with over 25 tons of snow on Thursday, March 3. Check back for more details, or check campusrailjamtour.com for more details.
