What up, BC fans?! We just wanted to give you a heads up that on February 23rd, 2012 from 7-10pm eastern time YouTube will be airing the 2012 ASP World Surfing Awards LIVE!! The Association of Surfing Professionals (commonly known as the A.S.P) is what one might call the NFL of pro surfing. Tune in on February 23rd, 2012 and watch as the greatest surfers in the world walk the red carpet to accept their awards. Such awards will be presented as ‘Rookie of the Year’, ‘World Champ’, and ‘Best Wave‘ to name a few. As we saw last year, our favorite surfer boys and girls were wearing their every day wardrobes of t-shirts and baggies. Last year the ASP decided to step it up and enforce a black tie dress code. It may not be your average surfer attire but, it will certainly be a sight to see. Hey, they are the best in the WORLD so why not? We can’t wait to see them all dolled up even if there will surely be sand in some socks. That stuff just sticks around forever, you know? So grab some popcorn and enjoy watching your favorite surfers get the recognition they deserve. Futures announces the release of the newest Dave Rastovich Quad. This marks the second signature fin release from Dave, following his Sea Shepard Keel twin-fin from 2010, and expands Futures ever-growing range of non-thruster sets.
The Rasta Quad features a layer of Bamboo at the base of the fin, and a very “Rasta-esque” geometric pattern graphic.
A percentage of the proceeds from sale of the Rasta Quad will be given to Dave’s foundation Surfers For Cetaceans, in support of his passion for the ocean and its inhabitants.

This is the 1st place video winning 5,000 dollars and well worth it. It was done by Ryan Spencer from Pensacola Beach, Florida.
They did an amazing job.

Second place went to Calvin Millar from Austin, Texas.

Last but not the least at all was Tadashi Suzuki from Los Angeles winning third place.

The Bones Brigade is back! On Thursday February 2nd The Bones Brigade Documentary premiered in Santa Barbara California at the beautiful Arlington Theater. The historic turn out brought together the original 6 skaters from the Bones Brigade for the first time in 22 years. As well as many other legends from the skateboarding world. The movie goes back 30 years to a time where some of the most influential skaters and skate tricks were discovered. TWS was on the scene and held red carpet interviews with such skaters as Stacy Peralta, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen, Mike McGill, and Tommy Guerrero.

Check out this interview from SURFER magazine with 2011 rookie of the year ‘Julian Wilson’. This young Australian ripper is planning his fight for the world title and it doen’t seem to be too far out of reach. Julian has a new contract and the victory of winning rookie of the year driving him to succeed! I think we will see some exciting surfing from this up and coming surfing champ!
